Let's Hear It From The $tray...!

You saw it oftentimes, on this denoter of a blog here, and the question will arise from time to time, again and again: and, each time, we must make note of it, what we write in here is solely about the blog we are reviewing and not about this very blog right here - is that clear? We always knew it was; we're just saying...

The question is, hence: is it a blog?
Really?!?

Case in point, this time: some sort of marketing whiz that promises you not so much fame but certifiably fortune via internet marketing...

Not just mere ''i-marketing'' but ''internet marketing... the smart way!''

Intriguing, n'est-ce pas? A hell of a lot so! Who wouldn't want to quit their job and make a lot MORE cash simply via means found on the internet?  You'd have to be masochistic to the core to want to keep on slaving away in the fabled rat race, surrounded with colleagues you can't stand for the better part, having to subject yourself to a boss' often unreasonable demands, allowing him to rake in all the profits and kudos that the productivity *you* made possible is bound to garner somewhere down the road...!

With the ''be your own boss'' formula, at least, all the triumphs (and all the blame, too) is solely yours to keep!  We're living, more and more, in a virtual world, a global village, where everyone has multiple signs of their presnece on the web already: and all those things, not just blogs either, are being ''monetized'' - because making a quick buck is the American Dream after all, is it not?

And then comes this ''blog'' there which promises you to do well, very well even, all on your own and all on the web too.  Granted, it is not the first (and won't be the last) to make such a daunting promise: baiting you, bit by bit, until you bite fully into it, with freebies such as a downloadable interview in which ''secrets of the trade are explained step-by-step...''

Even better yet: unlike others before it, this one gives you extremely concrete examples: people who actually (allegedly) quit ''a six-figure salary job'' to get into this sort of thing and are RICH, overnight... all anew or still, against all odds and all logic oftentimes.  The name should ring a bell: Erica Stone - but does it, really? All I can picture in my mind, each time I attempt a ''total recall'' here of this chick, is some sort of cross between Sharon Stone and Erica Kane; a daytime actress I wouldn't even know about, either, if it hadn't been for the fact that she is legendary for having been nominated some 20 times for an Emmy and won it only once.  Hey: I only caught an actual glance of her ''work'' on some bit parts she cameoed with on either some old action series I used to watch or some B-movies I had the misfortune of giving a chance to...! But that's just another sordid story right there - or several more, rather, all crammed into one...! As for the actual gal we're talking about here: well, have a look for yourselves now - she's neither but she could be an amalgam of both, indeed, as they are nowadays, that is! Just saying...

Sooooooooo... Can this ''Strayblogger'' really help make YOU a raging success, out of the blue, just like THAT?  One wonders, first and foremost, why such a net whiz would do that: as usual, all those rags-to-riches fast talkers say that they've ''found the surest and fastest way to riches'' and, now, for whatever altruistic or providential reason it might be, they're inclined to be ''giving it away - for free!'' (Well, not always entirely for free: I saw a price tag of 29$ attached to some ''online business course'' offered back there... Twenty-nine bucks don't grow on trees! But it isn't ''five easy installments of 99,99$'' either! Hence, this $tray is very nearly ''giving it away'' - yes!)

It is too easy, you'll say, to be so skeptical about such things these days, though: with all the conmen, scam artists, grifters and other blatant frauds out there, one cannot ever be too cautious!  We're not implying that Erica Kane here... sorry, Stone... is of the same ilk as all those scams emanating from Nigeria of all places, for example...!  No. Not at all. She's an entrepreneur, if anything: one who wheels and deals on the web, exclusively, and that's all there is to it.

We do wonder why the name ''Strayblogger'' though: why juxtaposing ''stray'' with ''blogger'' and go from there to teach peeps how to ''know your product'' as you make some dough ''cross selling'' while being an ''affiliate'' (beats being an ''associate'' as the retail world defines it - and you know it)  And while these peeps are stamped as ''affiliates'' of hers, getting cross sales through bigger sites than their own, blah blah blah - she will teach them all there is to know, promise? Well, yeah, she will teach them all this (and more!) - she will; for a fee, of course, not for free!  She does ''give away'' a single ''free Ecourse'' to tell the truth: and that one is focused upon the ''4 things that will work forever'' - whoo-oh! First off, you can't be any vaguer than ''things'' - can you? Why just 4 - don't you know it's an unlucky number?  Try asking an Asian culture aficionado what the number means to them...! Heck, ask Bobby Orr if it's any kind of a lucky number!  Finally, what the hell do you mean ''that will work forever''...?!?  Nothing works ''forever'' - nothing man-made, that is for damn sure! Not without work, adaptation, effort... luck! And, actually, not even anything God Made, ultimately: haven't our scientific eggheads told us enough times already that even our sun is finite, hmm? Thus, you can bet it applies for everything else from that scale downwards...! But we are digressing yet again...

Now, a ''blog'' should be about the best things in life: and those are FREE - like the blog itself is, usually...!  (Thank you, Blogger! And the others... Okay, we won't mention the others; after all, the bulk of our own TLB Prime Network is found right here, on Blogger...! Did I typo... I mean, type... ''thanks''... already? Good. I meant it, too! But let's wrap this up now...)

Seems like this ''stray'' here is nothing like the vintage vagabonds and other hobos of old; those who were bereft of material goods and, therefore, attached to other values altogether.  When the web's version of a ''stray'' wanders onto the blogosphere, it can only become a vile parody of its roots and it morphs into a cyber-monster of materialism!  It craves knowledge of more and MORE products - because it wants to sell more and MORE of them...!

And it wants to sell more because such is the only path to HAPPINESS it knows...

And that is just sad.

B.B.E. --- Boxing Blogs Experts!

Well, to each their niche, I always said...

And it is very nice of these experts there to prepare an eulogy for the late, underrated underdog Ken Norton who, despite being a former champion, a hall of famer and someone who broke Muhammad Ali's jaw, never gained himself as much renown as the latter and many others did...   George Foreman had more showmanship, perhaps; and Joe Frazier more sheer credibility in the eyes of biased boxing ''experts'' of the day, but these boxing experts, here and now, evidently know better indeed. Great!

Frazier, incidentally, was a close friend of Norton, and the both of them never had a bout.  Ken Norton fought everyone else though: and gave them all a run for their money!

Yes, it was very nice of these boxing experts, bloggers-for-Yahoo, to give Ken Norton a send-off like that on their blog there; not that it was the only one (and it certainly wasn't the best one either: this one is the best one!)

Rest in peace now, in that great ring beyond the stars, in God's Domain...
